What is better a Diamond ATI HD4870 1GB GDDR5 PCI-Express Video Card or a XFX Radeon HD4870 XXX Edition 1G?

They're the same card. XFX is generally regarded as having better quality, and should come with a lifetime warranty, so get the XFX.|||http://tessoffice.webs.com/

Can you combine a PCI and PCI-E video card?

I have a Nvidia 8500GT (PCI-E 512) and an ATI Radeon something(PCI 256) if i put them on the same comp, can i comebine them to make a 768 mb video card or something along those lines|||No, you cannot. Not only do you have bus problems (PCIe and PCI), you have different graphics cores that do not support bridging to one another.

If your motherboard supports Crossfire on the first two PCIe slots, then you can combine two ATI crossfire-capable cards using the crossfire bridge.

Similiarly, if your motherboard supports SLI, then you can combine two Nvidia SLI-capable cards in the first two PCIe slots.|||SLI on NVIDIA platforms and Crossfire on AMD/ATI platforms allow you to combine two PCI-Express cards together to have increased performance out of one of the cards, if that's what you're thinking. It does not work with mixing different buses (PCI-Express, AGP, PCI). The video memory from one card can't be shared with another card that way.

You can, however, use them together for a dual-monitor solution, say watch YouTube on the monitor connected to regular PCI while playing Battlefield 2142 or some other game on the monitor connected to PCI-Express. On another note, you can also do this on an SLI or Crossfire board, but then those technologies have to be turned off.|||You can put them both in the same computer, but any game you run will only use one of the cards.

The only useful purpose of adding the PCI card would be if you want to use several computer screens at the same time. The 8500GT probably has connections for two screens, if you want more you add the Radeon card.|||that's gotta be the wierdest version of Sli meets crossfire i've ever heard of ...and btw...NO YOU CANNOT haha if u put in both you'd be screwing up your mobo sooo i wouldnt recommend it, just use the PCIE it's 16x faster then pci, sell the radeon bro or invest in a new mobo and by another of the EXACT card for an nvidia sli setup|||One big reason why not to do such to your computer. You will have to have 2 differant drivers, not to mention ONE NVIDIA driver and ONE ATI driver all operating with the same operating system. It would cause such a caos in your system it would probally send out a loud brain fart from all the conflicts...|||No, with your powers combine you cannot create Captain Planet. But if you tape them together, you can make a Nvidia Radeon 8500000000GTX Ultra Edition|||No, but you can use them both to set up a dual monitor situation.|||No it is not Possible to Combine Any Pci-E or Pci Card with each other|||No ,its imposible|||Nope.

Sapphire ATI X1650Pro - 512MB AGP Video Card vs. GIGABYTE ATI Radeon HD4550 512MB DDR3 DVI/HDMI PCI-ExpressVid?

Ok im trying to see which one of these video cards would be best to use on a Hp pavilion 7965 to play world of warcraft.

*Sapphire cost: $66.99 but then i would have to buy a new battery pack 350 watt+ which would cost and extra $30

*GIGABYTE cost : $46.99 , idk what type of Battery pack i would need for Hp pavilion 7965 if you know can you tell me cause if i need a higher battery pack i will get 256MB GIGABYTE nVidia GeForce 6200 Video Card if it can work on my computer if you know answer that too plz :).

So which on do you think i should get for my HP Pavilion 7965?|||You CANNOT use the Radeon HD4550 at all. That card is a PCIExpress video card, and your Pavilion 7965 does NOT have a PCIExpress 16x slot to accomodate it.

The X1650Pro AGP should work in that Pavilion since the 7965 does have an AGP slot, but that is NOT a good choice.

The best and last AGP card ever made is the ATI Radeon HD3850 AGP. If you are going to do an AGP upgrade, that is the card you want. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

Hope this helps.

EDITED TO ADD: The X1650 is two generations older than the HD3850. Consequently the X1650 is rather outdated and does not support DirectX10 or HDCP. The HD3850 is relatively recent and has DX10 and HDCP support. It's a no-brainer-- If you are going to upgrade an old AGP system, why not go for the last and best AGP card ever made? If you want anything more powerful, you'd have to buy a whole new PCIExpress system.|||sorry but i just bought one from my friend

What Ati video card should I use?

I had an 8600gt that went bad. I have a 600w power supply. My motherboard has pci-express 16x, but not 2.0. Is there a decent Ati card that doesn't require any extra power connection. Possibly the equivalent to an 8600gt or better?|||it is not a problem of pci e 2 or 1

What would be the best video card for a Dell Dimension C521? Is it better than the ATI Radeon X1300 Pro?

I have a Dell Dimension C521 and I'm currently using a ATI Radeon X1300 Pro it is a PCI-E x16 slot. I was wondering if i could upgrade to another video card better than the one i have now? Since my Dell model is slimmer than others like the E521, I'm not sure i can upgrade. If anybody has any suggestions or info that may help i would appreciate it. Thank You!|||It seems, the only thing that differentiates C521 from the others is that it's based on the standard low profile case (I think so - you will have to check it. Judging by the image I found I'm correct but it'll never hurt to make sure) It's very unlikely that Dell would go through the trouble of creating a new videocard specifically for a slim case.

Anyway, to upgrade, you will need another low profile videocard. I might be wrong but I think the top card for any low profile system is 8600gt.

http://www.gfe.com.hk/Product_Details.as…

If this not it, you're stuck with either HD2400 or 8400gs - there are a few manufacturers of either of these cards, neither of which will give you much of a performance increase over your x1300.

The only suggestion I can give you is replace the case of your computer with the standard mid tower. Somehow I think you will dislike the idea but it's the only idea that will allow you to widen the horizon of your options regarding not only your video but other components as well. But then again - it all depends on how much you need that and how much you like that slim case.

To the wise guy below - yes, the slimness does matter, since non-slim video card will not allow the case to close, and low profile card also has shorter mounting bracket - any other video card cannot be mounted to the case, since it'll stick way out.|||the slimness doesn't matter as the expansion card cage is mounted sideways - just make sure it is pci-e 16 compatible.

TV video problems with ATI all in wonder 128 pci card and ATI RAGE 128?

I am having very strange problems with my graphic cards. I have dell

240GX and it came with ATI rage 128 Ultra. I had All in wonder. Today

I have decided to use it, so I installed it in this machine. When i

booted up my machine the MMC stopped working. I went into the bios and

changed the primary video controller from AGP to AUTO.

Now MMC is running but I can not see the tv. I can hear the audio but

there is no TV video just blank ( black) tv window.

Anybody have any idea how to solve this problem.

I am running Win XP Pro with sp2. One

Is there an adapter that will hook up a pci express video card to a pci slot?

I bought a pci express x16 video (graphics) card for my emachine T2042, that has been upgraded to 1g or ddr. Low and behold, I need a pci card. Is there an adapter that will allow me to plug the pci express card into the pci slot, or am I stuck saving money to buy a regular pci. Any sugestions were I can buy an ati 256mb pci card? Try COD United Offensive, its a better game anyway.

They converter mentioned by Hossein O, wouldn't make a difference for a game like COD 4, it may help a little in older games but PCI is only a 16th of the speed of a PCI-E port.

A game like COD 4 needs about 4gig bandwidth up and down from the motherboard to the graphics card, this is simply not possible through a PCI slot|||change your main board

or buy the PCI express to PCI Convet board

How can I get my ATI pci-e video card work on my PC?

Hi,

I have an e-machine H3504 with an on-board video card. I got an ATI Radeon X300SE PCI-E video card. I installed the card into the pci-e bus but nothing happened. I don't get a video signal when I connect my monitor to the on-board video card and not even from the ATI card. I don't think my pc even boots up. It is stuck with an orange light on and fan noise high. It works again if I take the PCI-E card off. Any ideas?

Thanks.|||The X300SE is a very low-end card that does not draw much power-- Notice it does not even have a 6-pin PCIe power connector. Only video cards that need more than 75 watts of power have the 6-pin. I doubt it's a power issue.

I'm guessing that you have to disable your onboard video through BIOS before the add-on video card can be recognized. How to do that:

Connect your monitor to your onboard VGA, and boot into BIOS. Disable the onboard in BIOS, then save and exit, and power down. Then connect your monitor to your X300, and power up. You may be able to see an image then.

Give it a shot, and good luck.

EDITED TO ADD:

It's easy to get your onboard back if your X300 still doesn't work. Just clear your CMOS-- There should be a jumper on your motherboard which when shorted will clear the CMOS, or you can take out the CMOS battery for a few seconds then put it back in. Both of these should be done while the computer is OFF, of course. Resetting the CMOS will re-activate your on-board.

Would a ATI Radeon 9200 256MB PCI Video Card work for Call of Duty 4 PC?

I just found a ATI Radeon 9200 256MB PCI Video Card on eBay and it's pretty cheap so I figured I would get it but I bought Call of Duty 4 for my PC and I was wondering if this video card would do the job or if not, what video card would work that is under $50.00 and will work with a 300W power supply?|||Nope.

If anything, that Radeon 9200 PCI will actually be SLOWER than on-board integrated graphics. That's because non-express PCI graphics cards are horribly bottlenecked by the PCI bus's molasses-slow 33mHz data transfer speed.

Save your money. Non-express PCI graphics cards aren't worth the box they are packaged in.

How good is a ATI Radeon 9250 256MB LP Low Profile PCI Video Card?

how advanced is this video card? like is it better than geforce 8000 series? 9000 series? or worse than the 5000 series? etc.|||PCI? Not only the 9250 is an old video chip, PCI is horrendously slow (33Mhz). It's practically useless. I wouldn't pay more than $5 for a PCI videocard.

If you meant PCIex, you can get a low-end videocard for $40 (acceptable 3D, and HD video decoding). The Ati4550 is the lowest I can recommend. Check benchmarks for similar nVidia cards.|||It is a 2001 model. By today's standards it is obsolete. It has support for Pixel Shader version 1.4 and DirectX 8.1. All the other cards you listed are better than the Radeon 9250.

I bought a Visiontek ATI X1300 512MB PCI-Expressx16 Video Card. How do I install it?

I currently have an integrated nVIDIA Geforce 6100 graphics card. How do I disable the integrated card and install my new card? My computer model name is Gateway: GT5228 if that helps.|||I've never heard of a Visiontek PCI-E, I have the PCI version of your card. First, turn off your computer. Then, open it up and remove the PCI-E slide cover(the metal cover). Next, insert the video card so that the metal cover part slides in and the plug plugs into the PCI-E slot(adapter or whatever). Then, reattach the monitor to the new card. Close the computer, turn it on, and use the CD to install the card. I think the integrated card will be automatically disable, like what happened to me.|||First off, follow all directions given by your new video card. I'm guessing it goes something like this:

1. Install drivers on CD-Rom. Of course, everybody knows you should go right to the Visiontek website and download the latest drivers.

2. Turn off, unplug, and open case.

3. Stick Video card in appropriate slot, attach with Phillips screw.

4. Attach monitor.

5. Boot.

6. Go to device manager and disable on-board video.

7. Fine tune your new card settings.

I don't know, something along those lines.

If I am using a PCI Video card in my PC now, will I be able to use a PCI Express card as an upgrade?

I have been looking for a new, better video card to upgrade to and I have a Dell Dimension 2400 (I know, it's old.) Right now, I am using an nVidia 64 MB PCI card. I would like to upgrade to the Sapphire ATI Radeon X1300 256MB PCI Express card, but I am not sure if it will work with my system. Please help me out!|||I can almost guarintee it will not work. You might have a PCI-E slot, but I've never heard of someone with a PCI-E slot opting to use a PCI card instead. If you are certin you have a PCI-E slot, then you can go ahead, but I'm telling you, I am almost certin you don't, and that it will not work. PCI and PCI-E slots are different.

The best you could do if you don't have a PCI-E slot or an AGP slot, would be to get a new PCI card.|||PCI & PCI-E are completely different and can not be interchanged. You older Dell 2400 does not have a PCI-E slot, therefor you can't use the new faster card. If you have an AGP slot you can upgrade to a faster AGP card.|||Sorry my friend.. there is no pci express expansion slot in ur comp.. i have checked online with dell and for sure pci express card is not compatible.. better dont buy pci cards they dont perform tooo good.. u better get new mother board|||If you do not have a PCI-Express slot the card will not work. I think it is time for a motherboard/cpu upgrade as well as the video card. You might want to read this article for pointers:

Old non-express PCI video cards are horribly bottlenecked by the 33mHz transfer speed of the old PCI bus. It will actually be SLOWER than your Dimension 3000's onboard video.

That is why PCI video cards are not worth the box they are packaged in-- An utter, complete waste of good money.

Can I put a ATI Radeon HD 4670 1GB GDDR3 PCI-E Video Card in my computer?

Is it possible to put this card in my computer because mine is about 2 years old. Here is some info about my comp:

3.07 GHz

1G of Ram

200G Hardrive

ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 Series

Please Help I dont know if my ATI RADEON is built in or not or i have enough power.|||Power shouldn't be an issue (the HD4670 uses very little and doesn't even have a dedicated power connector) but if you're really worried, get the 512mb version.

Having 1gb of VRAM isn't really useful for that card anyway- it only helps at really high resolutions like 1900x1200.

More GDDR3 memory increases a video card's power consumption, but even the 1gb version of the Radeon 4670 should be fine with a 350W psu. The 512mb version is happy with 300W units.

Card manufacturers usually overstate their power requirements a little, since they don't know what else customers have inside their computer cases. They are playing it safe by stating 400 watts. Here's a pretty comprehensive list of video cards' actual power usage:

http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php…

The HD4670 pulls 47 watts, maximum. All you need is a PCI-E x16 slot.|||Yes, it should work, and it's a great choice.

Don't forget to disable (or set pci-e as primary) your onboard video from within the bios. The 4600 series cards do not need an external power connector, therefore you do NOT need a 500 watt psu. 400 watts is enough. (although a little more is always better!) I checked on the ati site and confirmed that > http://ati.amd.com/products/Radeonhd4600…|||hey tommy ! i think your mother board is the one based on

the dg102ggc2 or the dg101ggc from intel. as far as i have heard

it has a pcie-16 gen1 slot. Open your cabinet's side panel

and try to see a slightly recessed of a different color(usually blue or red). If you can find it , you can buy a radeon 4670 and use it

on your comp. Beware though a need an smps of 500W minimum

. I suggest antec or cooler master true or extreme power series !

Good Luck man !!!|||You have to open up the computer and see if you have a PCIex16 slot available. That would be the first step. If the computer is store bought like a dell, hp, compaq, or gateway you probably can't do it, but if you have a current video card and not an integrated video then you may be in luck.|||The Express 200 series is the chip set of your MB. Looks like you have a PCIe slot.. (black one) As long as you have about a 500w power supply you should be ok. You would do good to upgrade to at least 2gig of RAM. Which video card is better? ATI radeio 300se PCI-e with 256 (128/128) or a pci-e nvidia 6600 with 128MB?

I had Nvidia cards for years and 3dfx's before that. My main computer that I use has a pci-e ATI Radeon 300se with 256MB of memory (128 actual/128 shared). I just ordered a 128 MB nvidia pci-e 6600.

I was never really happy with my ATI because it did not give me the performance I expected until I recently added memory to my computer. My system is now a P4 2.8Ghz HT 800 fsb with 1.5 gb ddr2 pc3200 and sb live 24 bit audio card.

Which video board would give me better performance. The radeon with hypermemory using 128 MB of my system memory shouldn't lag too much at 400 mhz or the nvidia with less total memory.

I have seen a big difference in performance going from a 64 MB mx4000 AGP to a 128MB mx4000 card PCI in my two children's computers. To my surprise the PCI version performed better because of the extra memory.|||The GeForce 6600 will be better, the 300SE is an extremely low end video card, hence the poor performance you have noticed.|||I don't know about the ATi but the nVidia 6600 - im not to keen on that... What is your price range? I recently saw an nVidia PNY card (GeForce 7900GS 256mb PCIE ) for just over a hundred. Very low power consumption worries too...|||The Radeon X300 is actually a low end video card that is 3 generations behind the latest video cards, whereas the NVidia GeForce6600 is 2 generations behind and is considered to be a lot faster than the Radeon X300.

Also, to correct your on your observation. Video card memory does not predict performance at all. It is because a computer has many parts, such as processor, RAM, hard disk, even the motherboard such can have an impact on it's overall performance. So perhaps there are parts in one of the computers that are slow causing it to be much faster compared to the one with the AGP slot.|||Ati 300 se = garbage

I have all the system requirements EXCEPT the vid card and I noticed that the VisionTek ATI Radeon HD 2600XT 512MB PCI-Express Video Card was on sale at future shop. Will it support Titan Quest?|||Yeah it will. It only requires a GeForce 3 or Radeon 8500. You can probably get a gfx card around 50 bucks that'll work.

The 2600 XT is made for new recent GFX intense games. It'll be killer with Titan Quest, seeing as TQ hardly needs anything to play. a Radeon 8500 is 64 MB DDR. a 2600 is probable 512 MB DDR2?

Is it possible to put a ATI video card and a AMD processor in a Acer laptop.?

I just bought a Acer Aspire 3100 1711 Notebook PC - AMD Sempron 3500+, 1GB DDR2, 120GB HDD, Dual Layer DVD RW, 15" XGA, Windows Vista Home Premium. And I want to put a Radeon X1650 Pro IceQ / 512MB GDDR2 / PCI Express / DVI / VGA / HDTV / CrossFire Ready / Video Card in it and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ 2.80GHz OEM Processor. Is this possible and if it is how can I do this?|||It's not possible.

Or at least it's not possible under any reasonable financial costs. The laptop CPU is (almost certainly) soldered on to the motherboard and the video card is (almost certainly) integrated into the mobo.

That's why you should only buy a laptop if you need a laptop... and otherwise buy a desktop so you can upgrade it.

Power supply and PCI-E video card wattage question?

Hey guys, i need some info from you serious tech-heads. I just bought an ATI X1900GT PCI-E...i'm planning to buy a Dell Dimension 9200 (so i can use the card). I'm a bit worried, the manual says the computer should have a 450watt+ power supply and a 12v special connector. Now the connector i'm sure it has since it has a PCI-E x16 slot, but 450watts?

This dimension 9200 only has 375watt, and most of the dell machines i looked all have 375watts - so i'm really confused, do i have to get a 450 watt supply just to run this video card?

Thanks for any help!|||.........................

It still works but with less performance!

........................

I suggest you upgrade your power supply. The more power to your pc the better. This mean that your computer will get enough power to run all hardware include your processor and graphic. 500 watt and above would be great for p4 and above!

..................

..................|||i'm running a 700 watt power supply, because the video card takes about 300- 320 watts just to power it up , plus everything else takes power also and if you sacrifice power your system will crash , and then hang during post boot, and alot of people will not figure out the problem , each fan usually takes 13-18 watts of power , the moterboard usually takes about 100 watts , to energize the processor ,this all adds up very quickly , if you want to be gaming do some research ,through old maximium pc magazines , they are a good reference source|||that depends on what else do u have in u'r sistem

Installing ATI HD 4650 PCI-e, reboot after inseting card, cuts off supply to video card, and built in vid card?

Then i shut down comp, take out pci-e card, then boot, built in vga working no prob.

I cant understand what is wrong, i have 450 watt PSU, the minimum for this card is 400W

If i shut down an re boot both built in vga and pci e cards fail, and then i get one long beeeeep followed by three short beeps.|||One long beep followed by 3 short beeps is the Original IBM POST Error Code for EGA failure.

Which means that the problem lies with the HD 4650.

Try to install it in a separate system first to see if you get the same error. If you do, RMA the card and get a new one.|||Your monitor is plugged into the ATI card right? Also 400W PSU requirement is just a guideline. It all depends on how much power your other components use. Regardless, however, when not gaming your PSU would be fine.

What is the best PCI video card i can buy?

my computer only has PCI slots. im running an ATI radeon 9250 128mb right now, and im wondering whether upgrading to 256mb will make a difference. what is the best gpu to get that runs on PCI?

btw, this is the old PCI, not PCI express. i cant afford a new comp so a new card will have to do for now.|||You pretty much have the best PCI video card that you can get.

If you wanted a DX9 card I suppose you could go with an Nvidia 5500 which is available as a PCI card but whether it would be a step up is debatable.

Yes, the Nvidia does have a Dx9 card on a PCI bus, but it is horribly outdated and probably still won't be very good with any modern games.

The Radeon 9250 is generally preferably in picture quality to the 5500 anyways.

As for more video memory, probably won't do a lot for you. More memory may help with increased resolution but not with speed.

A thought for you though....you say you can't afford a new computer but perhaps just a mobo, cpu and cheap video card?

You could get a Sempron processor, mobo with PCI-e, and Nvidia 6600 all together for under $100. If you can use your current case, ram, drives, etc it might be an option. Anyways, just a thought.|||radion|||here,

Why won't my ATI Radeon x600 Video Card work on my computer?

Hey,

I have a PCI-e video card I bought and when I tried to install it, my monitor wouldn't come on (my system still gets power though).

I have:

== MSI G41M-P34 Motherboard

== ATI Radeon x600 128MB PCI-e DVI S-Video H9142 Video Card

I downloaded the drivers for the card, but it won't let me install them until I attach the hardware. Any suggestions? Thanks!|||Try to use "ATI Drivers Update Utility" to update your ATI video drivers automatically.. It knows which drivers are compatible with your computer.

Google for it to try. or download it here

http://www.dgtsoft.com/drivers-update-ut…|||Depending on how your system is set up you probably have to boot it up and go into setup. Find where the video options are and make sure that you enable the card. If it was manufacture built go on line and download the repair or replacement information that is specific to your system. If you built it then you should be able to go to the manufacturer of the motherboard and get the same information if you are not sure how to do this.|||install the graphics card, disable the onboard gpu in bios (if any), then boot up and install the drivers for it. Although seriously, I hope you payed little to nothing for that card, that thing is really REALLY old by today's standards.

If it doesn't turn on, you might need to get a bigger power supply.

What pci express video card is compatible with my gateway 507gr?

I bought an ATI Radeon X300 LE 256 meg card that is PCI-express x16, which is what my computer is supposedly compatible with, and I upgraded my power supply to 400 watts, 50 above what is recommended for this video card, and it won't work at all.. I'm thinking that this card might not be compatible with this version of the PCI-Express chipset or whatever, but I can't find out anywhere what card would be compatible with it...|||Uh, did you enable the PCI-E port in the BIOS?? It has integrated graphics and won't work until that is disable and the otherone disabled.

Gateways is one of the most non-compatible brands made, but if it has a slot in there it should work.

I would like to play MineCraft on my computer, but I have an ATI Radeon video card...

I'm going to buy a new one but I want to know if this new video card will work with my old computer.

The new video card is a PCI GeForce 6200.

My current video card is: ATI Radeon X300SE 256M HYPER MEMORY PCI-E TVO/DVI

My CPU (If it matters): Intel 1GB NH8280

Motherboard (If it matters): Desktop board D945GTP D945PLM Canada ICES-003 Class-B

Question summed up: Can I replace my current video card (ATI Radeon X300SE 256M HYPER MEMORY PCI-E TVO/DVI) with the one I am going to buy (PCI GeForce 6200)?

Thanks alot, Erwin.|||Hi Zen!

Yes you can but the New Graphic Card! Hooray!

Your computer can Support it.

Thanks and Take care!|||No PCI and PCIe are different.

Your system is weak as hell and if I were you, I'd get rid of it cause that **** is ancient.

The cards you chose are dinosaur **** and your entire system is beyond caveman ****.

But I'd suggest building a real Pc and get rid of that ancient pos. :)|||if your current gpu is Pci-e then you are going to be downgrading to pci if your new card is pci-e like your old one then yes you can use it i dont know it may not work but if you have pci slot in your mobo then it will|||Whoa, several things here.

First off, PCI and PCIe are NOT the same thing. NEVER use a PCI video card if it can be helped. PCI is old, hideously slow, and worthless for any remotely high-bandwidth hardware, which means video cards.

Second, you're replacing one turd with another. The 6200 is a horridly old, slow, and outdated piece of crap. It's borderline worthless. You have a PCIe slot and thus have your pick of a multitude of modern cards. Don't settle for ancient garbage.

Third, you haven't specified a budget. Give us the money you're willing to spend and we can provide suggestions. You should also pop the side off of your computer and take a look at the power supply. Tell us the total wattage it can pump, because that's going to directly tie in to which video cards you can use without replacing the power supply as well.

For $40, the best you'll do is a Radeon 5450. It's better than what you have, but still pretty crappy. At least try to squeeze that up to $50 for a Radeon 6450. And yes, a new one will work. Why wouldn't it? It's all PCIe.

Shop on Newegg.com. If you were going to spend $40 on a PCI 6200 then you were getting ripped off. Newegg is an excellent site with great prices.|||I'm not going to look up the specs but there are a couple of things to consider...

1) Is the slot compatible with your new card.?

2) Is your power supply sufficient to power the new card?

Your old card is a PCI Express card. PCI-E slots are not backwards compatible with PCI. However, I am betting that your motherboard may have a spare PCI slot. You should be able to confirm if you have a spare slot.

Higher end graphics cards require higher wattage power supplies. Make sure that your old power supply is up to the task. Look up the specs on the new card and compare it with the wattage of your old power supply.

My advice? Make sure you can return your card just in case.

How do I disable "Shared System Memory" for a PCI add-in video card? (ATI Radeon X1550 Pro)?

I recently bought a Diamond Stealth X1550 PRO video card to upgrade from the integrated graphics in my ultra-cheap HP desktop (no PCI Express or AGP slots.) The HP BIOS has no way of disabling the onboard video entirely, just making PCI 'primary'. In Windows (Vista Home Premium,) I can disable the onboard (Intel 910GL) graphics in the Device Manager. However, when I get the graphics card properties for the Radeon, it says "256 MB Dedicated Video Memory" and "255 MB Shared System Memory" for a total 511 MB "Total Available Graphics Memory".

As this card has 256 MB onboard, I don't want to over-saturate the PCI bus having the video card use up to 255 MB of main system memory. (My wireless network card is also on the PCI bus.) Is there any way in Vista to disable the "Shared System Memory"? I am running the latest (April 18, 2007, v7.4) version of the ATI Radeon X1000 series drivers and Catalyst Control Center, and cannot find such a setting anywhere.|||i dont think you can, and its not such a big deal

2nd go in Start--> program files --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Information

--> in there, under components, look at Display, and if you look around it should come up

Considering the radeon 7000, you shall either see PCI or AGP. It is most probably AGP (and be careful, "PCI" and "PCI Express" are NOT the same thing. Any card at the store that is PCI express is DEFINETLY not for your computer because it is the new cutting edge technology)|||http://www.newegg.com|||Look inside the computer where the video card slot is. If that slot is just a standard PCI slot like the other one or two slotsbelow it then you have PCI but if that slot has an additional slot piese right next to it then it's AGP.

Not because it's not a great card, I use one myself.

The 8800GTS has been revised with the G92 board. It performs very closely to the 8800GTX now.

Matter o fact, the 8800GTS g92 is cheaper than the 8800GT right now, and outperforms it by a huge margin.

Spend a couple of extra dollars and do yourself the favor.

Grab the BFG Tech 8800GTS OC from Newegg.com . Super cheap right now, and comes with a lifetime manufacturer's warranty.

The better cooling also helps. Many of the 8800GT's have cooling issues. The 8800GTS g92 has AMAZING cooling.

Here's how to install it:

I'm guessing you're running at least Windows XP, so make sure you're logged in as an Administrator. Otherwise, this will not work.

- Locate the My Computer icon

- Right-click the My Computer icon, and select Properties

- Select the Hardware tab, then select the Device Manager button

- Double-click the menu item labeled Display adapters. Your current display adapter will appear immediately below as a separate menu item.

- Right-click the display adapter text that has just appeared. A menu with several options will appear.

- Select Remove or Uninstall from this menu. Figure 3 shows the Device Manager with the Uninstall option highlighted in Windows XP.

- Select Yes if any additional prompts appear. If Windows prompts you to restart your computer, select No.

- Shut down your computer normally.

Now you're ready to install your new graphics card. Be sure to have your Installation CD on hand before proceeding.

- Physically seat your new card in your computer.

- Turn your computer on. If you see an image on your screen, then your new video card is properly secured.

Now that your video card is up and running, it's time to let Windows know which card you installed. Windows requires a certain set of software, called drivers, to tell it exactly how to utilize your new video card.

Each video card manufacturer has a different method of installing the video card drivers in Windows. Accordingly, check your video card manual for specific instructions on how to install the drivers. The actual driver files are usually included with the video card in the form of a driver CD. Drivers can also be downloaded directly from the manufacturer of the video card or video card chipset. For more information on this please see the appendix.|||ok, so you have this new card for a second monitor I take it.

Ok, in order to have any new add-on hardware work you will need to install the drivers first.

1. Put the new card in the PCI slot. (But keep you monitor plugged into your original device, in your case the onboard video port.)

2. Start Computer and load the installation CD that came with your Video Card (or download the latest drivers from the manufacturers website.)

3. Once it detects and installs the new hardware (in your case the video card) and completes you will shut down your computer.

Note: Don't uninstall or disable your onboard video yet if you dont have to in case you still need it for possible troubleshooting.

4. Connect your monitor to the new device and start system back up and see if it loads correctly.

5. If all is well and you do not wish to keep your onboard video for whatever reason you can now go into "control panel/system/device manager and disable your onboard video device.

**IMPORTANT**: For this to work you may need to restart the computer and at the first posting screen hit your delete key or whatever key your system uses to go into the bios and locate the section that has your "Onboard Video" selected as primary display adaptor and swap it to "PCI" instead. Hopefully you wont need to do this until you have completed everything else.

Each different motherboard handles hardware a little different but this should be pretty straight forward.|||You probably have your computer set to consider the new graphics card as primary. Before the operating system loads, there is no ability to access a secondary monitor, so only the primary monitor will work.

Connect your monitor to the new graphics card. Power on your computer. Load your operating system. Then configure both displays the way you want them.

If, for some reason, you want the onboard graphics to be primary, you should configure that in your BIOS.

However, the 4850 is still a good card, though the GDDR5 in the 4870 does give it a nice boost:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

That's your good $100 option. Anything less and it looks like you'll have problems playing GTA4 with high settings. It's good to include your other specs as well.

One thing I did notice is it sounds like ATI's cards may have some issues with GTA4. Not sure, but it sounds like it's one of those games that just doesn't like ATI. Anyway, you might consider an nVidia card. I'm not an nVidiot, I have Hd 4850 Crossfire, I just don't play GTA4.

Something like this GTS 250 (formerly the 9800GTX+) might serve you better for GTA4.

Okay so I real a bit more and it looks the real problem is not having a good enough video card on its own (though yours is not good enough).

Apparently it's a game that runs four threads, meaning it will only perform well on quad core. Then my advice to you would be this, depending on what you have already:

Grab this 9600gso, a moderate nVidia card about 20% slower than the 8800gt/9880gt, for a mere 35$

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

In fact, if you're also CPU limited, you will likely see little difference between the 9600gso and the waaaaaay better 9800gtx+/gts 250... etc

And get yourself a quad core:

Personally, if your on socket lga775, look for a used q6600 and overclock it (if you're able, it's very easy, read about it, it's a free .6ghz boost at least). If your on AM2/AM2 plus look for a used Phenom gen 1 or low end Phenom II. I'd suggest like a 9850be/9950be. One click overclock to 2.8ghz pretty much because it's got an unlocked multiplier.

Anyway, if you have questions about what your system can take, or how to overclock, feel free to email.

What is the differents between pci agp or ati video cards?

i want to know which one is better pci or the agp video card and which video card should i get|||AGP video card are faster then PCI.

PCI-X is the current standard.

Fastest AGP is the ATI 3850 512mb 256 bits|||OK. PCI is just an ordinary expansion interface for plugging in different cards, like networking and TV cards, for example. AGP stands for Accelerated Graphics Port, and is dedicated for graphics. I would suggest either nVidia or ATI for your graphics card, and possibly nVidia would be your best bet, as they are cheaper than ATI, but whatever suits you|||pci and agp are both video architectures and ati is a brand of video card. I would suggest nVivia video cards!

What is the best PCI video card?

I cant upgrade my rig.

I don't have AGP slots.

I don't have pci-e slots

I was looking at an ATI radeon 9250 PCI for running starcraft 2.

What is the Best available PCI video card available?|||Pretty much all PCI video cards are going to be absolute garbage and likely completely unable to play Starcraft 2. The PCI bus just doesn't have the necessary bandwidth to support any descent video cards, and even most 5+ year old computers at leave have AGP slots. If you do not have AGP or PCI-E, it's highly likely your CPU and other computer specs are inadequate to play StarCraft 2 anyway.

Your best option would be to just save your money until you can afford to buy a new computer.

Unknown PCI device when installing ATI Radeon HD2400 PRO on a eMachines with integrated NVIDIA video card?

I installed the new video card, it is recognised but another PCI device is detected and I have no ideea what it is and the PC is not finding any driver for it! My eMachines is a W3118 model with 2 Gb RAM. The OS is Windows XP and the video card is a Powercolor. There is no manual for its installation on the producer site. After I phisically installed it, I installed the drivers from the CD that came in the box.|||So the video card works I am assuming?

You can go to your computer's device manager. PCI devices are usually found under "Other devices" That might tell you what it is.

Is the pop up box annoying you or just a hassle?

You can right click on the PCI icon. It usually has a yellow ! mark and disable it. That should prohibit the message from appearing on your screen.

Hopefully I interpreted that correctly.|||if its not hurting your pc don't worry about it.I'm not sure but i had integrated nvidia graphics on my old emachines pc,if i remember correctly i think i disabled the integrated card

by right clicking on my computer then properties and finally in device manager under display adapters make sure there is 1 display not 2 that is enabled. disable your integrated card by clicking on it and select disable reboot and good luck|||If you have integrated video on your motherboard, you need to disable this in BIOS.

Video cards often have multiple functions. You may have an HDMI or some other output on the new board which is considered by the OS to be a 2nd device.

Bottom line: if everything's working, don't sweat it.

Jim, http://www.jimpettis.com/wheel/|||Jims right. Thats ATI's audio or HDML. To fix it you'll have to download and install drivers from ATI for it. I'd try the latest video drivers first. You can scroll down this page and see the post about the same thing with a 2600 card called "

ATI HD2600 "Unknown PCI device" solution"

http://redwinedrummer.wordpress.com/

The answers would be, I don't know, and yes.

Your old card appears to be AGP based. Your new card would not go in that slot. It would probably go in a slot next to it that would be different size.

If you can find an AGP card, it would be better than the PCI card.

Do NOT buy a PCI express card, I doubt your motherboard has support for those cards.

Check your motherboards website to make sure what card will fit in it.|||Probably not - the Duron is an older CPU, which suggests you have AGP graphics interface on your motherboard. You need a PCIe x16 grapics slot on your motherboard to run the 9250.

Video Card upgrade from a ATI X600 Pro, i was advised on this card!?

Any Input would be a GREAT help!|||Hi, The ATI Radeon X1550 is very slow to todays standards. There are much faster ones that have similar power specs.

This website has a chart that compares the latest graphics cards.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/

(select Desktop VGA charts)

However answering your question, The closest to that card would be a RadeonX1600pro -X1650pro

See this website for prices.

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Component…

A X1550 costs about £24.99, while the upgrade X1650 is £31.67 and if you wanted a better upgrade that will last longer (such as Nvidia 8600GT or ATi Radeon HD 2600 XT) it costs about £40.

However none of the cards mentioned above will play the current games, such as Crysis or Unreal Tournament, in high or medium quiality, without considerable lag.

So I'd say save for as long as possible and try reaching for a Nvidia 9600GT or ATi Radeon HD 3650 which are about £85

if you're a gamer.

Otherwise happy shopping!

although has been a dispute between the nvidia 8800GT and the Ati 3870

Bench marks show that the 8800GT is better.

Currenty it is winning for the best bang for your buck.

Will A ATI Radeon 7000 64MB PCI Video Card work for the game combat arms?

my pc has a intel 845g, but it sucks for playing this game so i was wonder if that ATI Radeon 7000 64mb will work.

here is the one im thinking of buying on amazon.com.

http://www.amazon.com/ATI-Radeon-7000-Vi…|||It's not going to be much of an improvement, especially seeing as that is a PCI card. Though then again, anything is better than integrated. If your computer has a PCI-E slot and you have to stay in the ~$20 range, I would recommend something like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

It's significantly more powerful. Just remember, you get what you pay for. That card is not going to be able to handle much more than Combat Arms.

Otherwise, I recommend buying computer parts from a dedicated dealer like Newegg or Tiger Direct; Amazon isn't a very good place to buy computer parts.|||Well, if it helps, I can state that the Radeon 7000 card will NOT work with combat Arms. The system requirements for that game specify DirectX 9.0c, and the 7000 only supports DirectX 8

To put it bluntly, if your PC doesn't have a PCI Express or AGP slot, it's not going to be upgradeable enough to play that game.|||A 7000 series ATI card is 10 years old. You are replacing your video with a card that sucks just as much, but you only need a GeForce 2 level card to play the game, so it will work. I would buy a better card.|||try checking the forums on the website if there are forums, im sure there are other ppl with questions like this

Can I install another video card on my Win7 desktop with ATI All-in-Wonder HD?

I have 2 PCI slots and a PCI Express x1 available and I'd love to have a third monitor. Can I install a second video card without problems? I currently have an ATI All-in-Wonder HD card in the PCI Express x16 slot. Any recommendations? Feedback?|||that will depend on your motherboard, if your motherboard supports ATI's crossfire technology, and both of your graphics card support it, it should work no problem, provided you have a strong enough PSU as well of course..

I am in the market for a Ati Radeon 9250 Pci 128MB Graphic Video Card is it compatible with...?

...dell dimension L566cx?

I need a pci compatible card, and I need it for WOW to play again.|||That particular model has an AGP onboard video, but probably no AGP slot. If you have a free PCI slot, then it should work. Also, you can only upgrade the ram to a max of 512mb.

Even with the video card, I am not sure how well it will run WoW as the computer is slow and does not have much RAM.|||I would look at GeForce 9500GT or a Radeon 4350, Both are absurdly slow by today's standards, but they are much, much faster than the POS Radeon 9250, and can be had in PCI configuration.

At any rate the Radeon 9250 does not meet the minimum specs for WoW.

System requirements

Microsoft Windows

Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 (32- & 64-bit supported)

Intel Pentium 4 1.3 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1500+

1 GB or more of RAM

NVIDIA Geforce FX or ATI Radeon 9500 video card or better

25 GB free HD space

4× DVD-ROM drive (Downloadable Installer also available)

Broadband Internet connection

Can I my computer run more than 1 pci video card at a time?

I have a Emachine T2042. I am limited to only pci slots. I have added a 256mb ati video card. That's good for some games, but not for the best. I was thinking about putting, at least, another 128mb. Is this possible. I have a Imperial 1.04 board. Thanks for the patients. Andy|||you can install more than one card but not for the reason you want the only benifit you can get from installing two cards is connecting mutiple monitors. unless you get a newer board that has 2 pci E and supports sli you can get two of the exact same cards capible of sli and that will increase your preformance|||Nope.

New and expensive motherboards let you run dual cards, but they are PCI-E. The cards have to be the same, and compatible to do this.

On your computer, no.|||You can't combine two graphic cards together. You would only see benefit from the one which you used to transmit an output. If you need more VRAM then just buy a new card with more than 256mb in.|||no you can only use one

Where Can I Get Drivers for my ati rage ii + DVD PCI Video Card?

I Have an ATI 3D RAGE II + DVD PCI Video card And I Want to know where i can go to get its drivers for windows XP i already checked driverguide , ATI Website & every other site you might think of and with no lick finding them I Came Here To Ask For Anyone & Everyone to help me as the only drivers i can find for it are windows 95/98/NT but not 2000 or XP If anyone Can Help Me Find a Site That has that file without any other annoying things such as scanners or version tracker or anything else that would hinder my download unusable.

thanks :)|||You simply will not find one. They were mostly used in Mac computers a long time ago. You really need to upgrade your system. there is no incentive for manufacturers to keep spending money on old cards that should have been put in the trash years ago.

Is a Visiontek ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB PCI-E Video Card good for Call of Duty?

hi i am gonna buy a Visiontek ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB PCI-E Video Card from new egg and i need to know if it is good enough to run on my computer.

my specs are

amd Athlon 64 processor 3400+

2.21 GHz, 2.87 GB of RAM

and its XP media home edition

and no graphic card which i need to get

Will Visiontek ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB PCI-E Video Card help me play CoD 4 MW1?|||That's a terrible video card.

If you want to stay with ATI GPUs, don't go any lower than the Radeon HD 4000 series.

If you go Nvidia, don't go lower than the GeForce 9 Series (though some 9 series cards are rebranded 8 series GPUs... e.g.: 9600 GSO = 8800GS).

You will manage the game with less than a Radeon 4xxx or GeForce 9xxx, but you won't get great frame rate.

Anyways, the minimum video card requirement for CoD: MW is an Nvidia Geforce 7800 or better or ATI Radeon X1800 or better. So you'll be able to play the game, but not on medium or high settings and you will most likely get poor frame rate when lots of things are happening at once.|||I only see the AGP version of the Visiontek ATI Radeon X1950 Pro on newegg, no PCI Express. The X1950 is a good card. When it was first released on October 17 2006 it was in the sub-$200 range. I would recommend getting a newer ATI HD model. The X1950 Pro will play all PC games decently if you have enough power to run it.|||It should work fine for that game. Look here to see how it stacks up against other cards. You may be able to get a faster card for the same or similar dollars.

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_e…|||The Radeon X1950 Pro was nice back in the day, but it's ancient now... that's like a 4-year old model, don't buy it!

Instead, get a Radeon 4670, it's a much better card for playing COD MW1 and MW2!

Best Video Card for under $50 all i can find is ones around $70 i was lookin at an ATI 1800XT 512MB PCI! HELP!

i need to find a good video card thats pci not pci-e when ever i search for one on say.. ebay or somtin it always says pci-e even though i type pci cuz my friend has a dell (cheap piece of crap never go dell unless its an older one) and i has a place in it where it looks like someone could soder in an agp port but i aint doin that it has 2.4ghz and 256mb ram we want to play games on it but its got a junk Intel Extreme Intergrated Graphics card in it it supports HW TnL but limited like not shader or vertex shader support its no better than an ATI RAGE PRO :/ i was think in the video card i saw in walmart it was an ATI 1800XT 512MB PCI i even look at the see threw hole in the box and it was a pci port card and was like low profile and had a small fan but ive be hearin about the card it sound pretty good and has shaders 3.0 (good enough for most our games) but it was $70 any one know where i could find it for a lil under $50 plus shipping? all i need the the url to the site so plz help!!!|||Don't get the one that plugs in to the PCI slot. The PCI video card is only as good as you secondary bridge on the motherboard and will not really perform better and may be worse.

Get the Video card that plugs into the AGP slot. The AGP is the different looking slot(s) toward the top. The advantage of the AGP Video card is it doesn't have to go through the smaller secondary host controller to communicate but just goes through the larger primary host controller before it accesses the memory and processor. The PCI Video card has to go through the smaller secondary host controller and the larger host controller before it accesses the memory and processor.

The smaller host controller also is what communicates with the hard drive and sound card and plug-ins in the back of the computer including the printer, scanner, usb devices, power management, etc. It really already has a load on it.

The AGP Video card will more than likely be more expensive but I think you will be disappointed with the PCI Video card. I was. In fact I think I have two of them I don't have any need for. They are stored in a box.

I will get the AGP Video card next no matter the cost.|||Ok that slot by the way was a retarded atempt buy dell to be able to add future memory upgrades to the integraded video, anway here is what i found

http://www.eaglebit.com/PCI_Video_Card_G…

here is a couple of options for you anything better then the 7000 is good but nothing less|||maybe u can cehck out sim lim sq or even funan it mall.or u can jus check the newspaper for it|||Try www.tiger.com or www.geeks.com both good and cheap websites which i use and trust them.

PCI or ATI video card? Which one is better?

guys i am planning to buy a new video card/graphics card. Which is better PCI or ATI?|||pci is a type of slot that u put video cards into...|||If you mean PCI ot PCIe it would be PCIe all the way because it has a higher transfer rate and supports all of the newer cards.

If you mean ATi and NVidea if you have a newer AMD settup you should go with ATI because AMD and ATI have been working hand and hand with all of the newer settups comming out and they work really great together.

If you have an older AMD you want NVidea because the older systems were designed with NVidea max support and they work wicked fast together.

If you have intel it doesnt really matter but i have found that NVidea has had the best reliability and have the faster cards with the best over clocking around.|||It is not PCI or ATI. Its supposed to be Nvidia or Ati. Anyway I go for Nvidia, because I like Nvidia very much. ATi cards are also great.

Anyway PCI is a slot, not a video card.|||ATI is a chipset...PCI is a video card "fit". I think you mean ATI or Nvidia...if so, I would say CURRENTLY it is ATI as they support Directx 11 which is awesome.|||ask daddy if its OK first!

Can I put 2, ATI Radion 9250, w/256MB PCI Video Cards in my comp, even if I wouldn't have anything hooked 2 it

Can I put 2, ATI Radion 9250, w/256MB PCI Video Cards in my comp, even if I wouldn't have anything hooked to it...?

Would I get the 512MB (1/2GB) Video RAM...?

Or would it not do anything...?|||yeah it will boot from the agp card first, and give you dual monitor abaility, but depends on your motherboard and windows on how to it handles the drivers for those graphic cards, and no it wil not give you a combined 512mb of graphical memory.

the other person who said about crossfire or xfire for ati cards its wrong since they didnt read the question correctly since you need pci-express cards for crossfire, not agp/pci|||thats called crossfire, you have to have a special motherboard for that, you can run them together but you have to set it up correctly|||You can put two in their, but there's no point. Unless you have them hooked up through SLI, in which case you'll get more than the combined memory: both cards will work in parallel, almost doubling your performance for video output.|||I've done similar things to this, so that I could run multiple desktops. I have 2 PCI video cards in a presentation computer so that I can hook up 4 monitors with unique video on each. It will not however allow the cards to work together on a single display. It will not increase your gaming performance at all, if that's what you are after.|||The card you listed only supports AGP or PCI (not PCI Express) connections and is not an ATI Crossfire supporting card. You could install multiple cards, but doing so will not enable them to work together as you are suggesting. You could use each to drive a separate display, but you wouldn't combine the processing power.
