I want a video card that will work for my new game (Neverwinter Nights 2). It requires at least 256MB card, but recommends a 512MB one, so I would like a 512 one that supports Shader Model 3.0.
Recommended: ATI X800 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card
Supported Video Card Chipsets:
ATI X1950 series
ATI X1900 series
ATI X1800 series
ATI X1600 series
ATI X850 series
ATI x800 series
ATI Radeon 9800 series
ATI Radeon 9700 series
ATI Radeon 9600 series
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro
NVIDIA GeForce 7950 series
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 series
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series|||I think you mean AGP.
The highest PCI even gone is Diamond which they used for Autocad during the Pentium 1 days.
And maximum it can go is 128+15Mb.
Go for NVDIA 7800 series.|||If you mean PCI Express bus then I'd say the Nvidia 7950 is your best bet for future expansion since it contains a dual GPU.
ATI's X1950, on the other hand, is the fastest single-core video card on the market today.
But, do you really want to invest in any video card that can't support DirectX 10 when it debuts in the next couple of months? If possible, try to hold off until those cards come out. Personally, I'd hate to spend all that money on a DX9 card.|||Some of those look like AGP adapters.
Don't you mean PCI Express?
Don't see how you'd ever find a PCI card that would accomodate 256+ MB of video RAM.
At any rate, (IMHO) if you're looking for hard core gaming cards, stick with NVidia!
