Video Card upgrade from a ATI X600 Pro, i was advised on this card!?

Powercolour ATI Radeon X1550 512MB Silently Cooled PCI-E x16 Graphics Card but the store is currently out of stock, could anyone advise me on the next model up? i have everything else to upgrade just not the video card and it has to be similar to the X1550 512MB PCI-E x16.

Any Input would be a GREAT help!|||Hi, The ATI Radeon X1550 is very slow to todays standards. There are much faster ones that have similar power specs.

This website has a chart that compares the latest graphics cards.

However answering your question, The closest to that card would be a RadeonX1600pro -X1650pro

See this website for prices.

A X1550 costs about £24.99, while the upgrade X1650 is £31.67 and if you wanted a better upgrade that will last longer (such as Nvidia 8600GT or ATi Radeon HD 2600 XT) it costs about £40.

However none of the cards mentioned above will play the current games, such as Crysis or Unreal Tournament, in high or medium quiality, without considerable lag.

So I'd say save for as long as possible and try reaching for a Nvidia 9600GT or ATi Radeon HD 3650 which are about £85

if you're a gamer.

Otherwise happy shopping!

PS.

If you want to upgrade all your components look at a power calculator to know what Wattage Power Supply you may need.

Hope that helps|||an ati 3870 would be good if you have around 2-300aud.

although has been a dispute between the nvidia 8800GT and the Ati 3870

Bench marks show that the 8800GT is better.

Currenty it is winning for the best bang for your buck.
